We had another strong turn out for the first training session of 2020, as despite some players being away or suffering illness, we still had 17 children (and four coaches) on the pitch including one new boy trying out for the first time.
Today's training focused on rucking, two on one, making space and drawing your opponent. We are also trying to teach the kids to be a little less polite - they need to rip that ball a little more often! We ended up with the usual match, and the kids proved that they have not forgotten their skills over the Christmas break, showing some fearless runs, committed tackling and some good solid passes. It is exciting to see the teamwork bonds forming between this wonderful group of children, and their confidence in themselves and each other growing. There's definitely some future Diss first XV players in there!
As always the Coaches made the session fun, and it was enjoyed by all. We have one more training session next week before we take on Crusaders away.
