Diss Under 15’s
Away to Norwich 22nd Sept 2013
A Very Good Start
First test as the under 15’s in an away match after last week’s home training match against Sudbury saw a depleted Diss squad turn out at Norwich and produce a very good performance.
The ground was pretty hard and was perfect for running rugby.
Both teams were missing players due to injury and other commitments so Diss with 18 boys lent Norwich with 12, 3 players on a rotating basis.
Diss were in the ascendancy from the start and showed that they now have the strength and depth to cover all positions twice over and that the Coaches will have some difficult decisions to make in future team selections.
Hayden Watling was first to score with less than 2 minutes on the clock and it became pretty much one way traffic after that, with Diss turning round at half time 45-0 to the good.
It should be pointed out that Norwich were in no way a poor team and fought for every ball, their forwards being particularly competitive at the breakdown and at scrum time, however clinical passing, prodigious team work and excellent all round ball skills produced the rewards for Diss.
It ended 71-5. All in all a superb team effort.
Scorers : Hayden Watling, Alex Warmes, Anthony Brown (3), Jake Grant, Finlay Brett, Joe Boom, Luke Miller (2) & Thomas Webster. Conversions: Campbell Young (5), Brown (2) & Watling.
Many thanks to Coach Sooty Smith who oversaw this fine day singlehandedly and considered several of the boys to have had personal best games, some even while playing for Norwich! Man of the Match this week the whole team (you know what to do with the lime squash, but watch your poor mother’s kitchen floor!) MoM’s v Sudbury at home last week Alex Warmes and Ed Dolden.
