On Saturday 29th September, Diss travelled away to Bury St Edmunds for a what promised to be an exciting game against Bury 2s.
Shortly after a Diss kick off and following a period of great defensive pressure from Diss they forced Bury to kick it straight back into blue hands, creating the space for George West to put the first score on the board with both the try and the conversion. The first scrum of the game saw great pressure from Diss and following an exchange of kicks and some tough tackling particularly from Matt Baxter and Joe Gant Diss were awarded a penalty on the Bury line from which Joe Gant scored and George West converted 0-14. Despite Tiger Shaw receiving a yellow card for off-side, Diss won the ball and James Webster put the ball down on the line for another try successfully converted by George West taking the score to 0-21. Bury scored next making it 21-5. Following a line-out won by Bury their kick went straight to John Webster who demonstrated his nifty footwork and speed to score another try for Diss making it 5- 26
Following the restart Bury made a quick interception putting another try and conversion on the board for them 12-26. Just before the half time whistle, Luke Miller made it over the line for another Diss try taking the half time score to 12-31. The second half saw a lot of pressure and endeavour from both sides but only Bury scored a try . Diss defended manfully and held on for victory despite Bury scoring a last minute try making the final score 24-31 and a first win of the season for Diss. Man of the match was difficult to choose but awarded to George West
