Diss Played Shelford, a team they haven't played for a couple of seasons. Unfortunately Diss only had fifteen to play with to Shelfords twenty three. Diss took the challenge head on, and what a game. A nervous start with plenty of probing from Diss and handling errors from both sides. It wasn't long that Diss were awarded a scrum well into Shelfords half. Lots of offloads from Diss, the with George running in to score the first try. Kyle unable to convert. 0 - 5
Diss gained confidence and took the game to Shelford, attacks from all sides. Shelford responded where they could but Diss boys broke their advances straight away with unrelenting tackles. No further scores in the first half.
The second half started pretty much the same with Diss out to win every ball. Then Shelford starting to bring on the big boy substitutes. It wasn't long before Shelford drove Diss back and drop down for a try followed by a massive conversion kick. Diss went back on the attack again, to finally penetrate the Shelford defences with a short dash by Tom E to claim another try for Diss, and go in front 7 - 10. Fatigue was setting in against the Diss team with continuous hard work until Shelford forced another try over the line from the pack players. 12 - 10 to Shelford. The last few minutes were intense. Diss again on the attack, Shelford with handling errors and offsides on the five metre line brought anxious play and probably wrong moves from Diss with final efforts to win. Unfortunately ref blew for full time. Again brilliant effort from the Diss team against a team with a large squad and plenty of replacements. A great spirited game
